Dr K. 6-7.5.2008: Richard Shusterman and Erica Ando lecture and workshop Thinking through the body: Somaesthetics in Theory and Practice The theory section of this presentation will explain the concept of somaesthetics by discussing the body as the basic medium of human experience and our primordial instrument for action, perception, and expression. The lecture presentation will be followed by a practical demonstration in which the audience themselves will engage in an experience of somaesthetic focusing by being guided through experiments of subtle movement that enhance and modify one’s somatic perception and performance. These movements are based on the Feldenkrais Method. Erica Ando, a designer and movement instructor, has a Master of Fine Arts and is a professional practitioner of the Feldenkrais Method. >> more Richard Shusterman, philosopher and author, is the Dorothy F.
